As the official launch of her candidacy, Candidate Tiffany Boyle along with the residents and supporters of Newport News area celebrated her pursuit as Commissioner of the Revenue on yesterday evening at Neo Kitchen and Bar located in the heart of the city.
As candidate for the people, Candidate Boyle celebrated and shared her vision with local residents and patrons about why this role is important to her and what her vision is for Newport News, VA impacting progress for the residents as Commissioner of the Revenue. Likewise she learned how important this role is to fellow residents like Geoffrey Hudson (kickoff attendee) whose a local Business Development Specialist.
"I learned that there are many great business owners and residents that have so much talent and love for this city. I learned that some were not aware of what the office did and I was happy to be able to educate them on this subject. I learned that some were passionate about our government and how it can be improved and that they were happy I was there and willing to listen."
With hands-on experience working in the Commissioner of the Revenue's office, being an entrepreneur, working in the private sector and in the non-profit sector Candidate Boyle brings to the role an authentic story with a genuine understanding of the role and the needs in the community.
The primary election is June 13th where Candidate Boyle encourages all residents to get out and vote. As the Democratic ticket, this young woman looks to partner with the party as she puts it best, "Is about being an agent of change. We are the party that brought you the New Deal, the first Black President and the first Female Presidential Candidate. As an agent of change, I look to not to talk about myself; yet, I want the focus and the talk to be about how I look to improve the well-being of my Newport News residents."
Nonetheless for Candidate Boyle, this role and position is bigger than herself and party lines: it's about a larger whole coming together to help everyone succeed.
"This event was amazing. It touched my heart. As a business owner I attend a lot of networking events. This event was different. Yes, there was networking. I love when people meet new people and both can benefit from each other. But thi
s event was personal and to see people that I know and love come out and support made me feel like I was making the right choice by running for this office.
Seeing people that I did not know come out and support and say how happy they were that I was running and how just by me running I have inspired them to be greater confirmed that I made the right choice. People came from all over to support, not just from Newport News. We had people from Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, and all the way from Lynchburg.
Even though I am running a local race I want to encourage people to get involved at any level and that government affects us all."
